Spencer Neel Team Project

Our team name was iSole and it was a solar-powered phone. We were able to make sure each of us got what we needed to do done. We struggled with managing our project and also struggled on each of us contributing to the group work. I would make sure that I showed more leadership in my group by guiding other of my group members that don't know what they need to do. I would also make sure we communicated together more the next group project and collaborated our ideas instead of just taking one person's idea and going with it. I would change how the website looks, maybe make it look more professional. I have improved my presence in front of the camera and in front of people.

I was the main actor for the commercial, I compiled everyone's SketchUp work and animated it, and I created the advertisement graphic.

Spencer Neel- Advertisement for e9 Final Commercial "Isole"

This is the advertisement for the final e9 project. Our product is called the "iSole", which is a solar powered phone. Making the advertisement required me to use a free mockup of an iPhone in order to give the viewers the idea that the advertisement is being shone on an iPhone. I used this website to find my mockup: https://colorlib.com/wp/free-psd-iphone-6-mockup-templates/ I opened the mockup into Photoshop and hid the screen. The file had a folder titled "edit me" that had files that I could edit in order to place my ad into the mockup.

The picture to the left shows the folder in Photoshop. In order to make my ad fit into the mockup, I had to make it according to the dimensions that the file I had to edit was (on my mockup it's called "screen_1242x2208_portrait"). When I put my ad in the file that needed to be edited, I had to save the file and it showed up on the mockup.
If I needed to, I could hide the shadow, the reflection on the phone, or the phone itself.
To export the file as a photo, I opened the finished mockup in Illustrator and Exported the file into a PNG.

Invasive Website Spencer Neel

Making the website took several days, but it proved without many challenges. I followed each of the videos in order to make the HTML code and the starting layout. I used my experience of making websites in Graphic Design to link other pages in the home page. I didn't use any specific color scheme, but I felt that the colors I chose were appropriate. It took me a little while to figure out exactly what the instructions meant by "embedding", but my fellow students assisted me in figuring out it's not just linking the video. There were some complications with the name of each site and how the links were read, but I was able to solve any problem that came out and completed the website.

House Animation Sketchup Spencer Neel

Making the house in SketchUp wasn't very difficult, but it did come with it's fair share of problems. I started out the house making a rectangle and raising it up eight feet. Trying to raise the roof how the picture of the house described was almost impossible. Mr. Olson taught me a way to make the roof by using the line tool and making that a 3D model. After that, I made the windows, trying to make each frame of the window as even as possible. Finding good colors didn't take long, but trying to make the railing in the front of the house was extremely difficult. It took me a very long time to place another rectangle on top of the other rails and make it even, but I eventually was able to. After the railings, I made the ground and the road. I imported trees to add aesthetics. Animating took no time at all, and I was able to successfully upload it to my YouTube account. It took some time, but I made the house to the best of my ability.

Spencer Neel Name Animation

Making my name animation in photoshop required more time than other projects. I used over 100 frames in my animation to fully animate my name being written. While not very difficult, it was time consuming and tedious work.

Neel Chair and Dog House Projects

3D modeling in SketchUp is fun, yet more challenging than other projects. SketchUp requires lots of persistence an precise modeling. It's not hard to mess up creating a 3D image. Regardless of difficulty, making 3D objects in SketchUp is fun.

Spencer Neel 10 Words Animation

Animating this video was different than previous animations I've done in Animation. The Video Timeline is different from Frame-by-Frame animation because it requires you to set markers for where you want certain objects to go at certain times. Instead of making several different frames, you only have to use one frame and move it at different times with the markers on the timeline. I had trouble trying to edit the words after the markers were set because if I changed the size, the size would only change at that time on the timeline. I had to delete some of the markers and change the size at that time in order to get around this issue. Making animations this way took much less time than making animations frame by frame because I only had to use one frame rather than several for one object.
